One announcement. One reader comment. One week of trying. Zero solutions when things broke. Omarchy Linux promised everything I wanted in a distro, and I genuinely started to love it. Then reality hit, and I learned something I should have known after 20+ years in tech: the best product, specifically as open source, in the world means nothing without community support.

The Comment That Started It All

A reader named Thien Duc To left a comment on my “From macOS to Linux” article suggesting I try Omarchy. I had seen it mentioned across various places, but three immediate concerns stopped me from even considering it.

Let me explain my skepticism.
